"In Defence"
In Defence started in 2006, the product of singer Ben Crew's desires to play the late 80's styled hardcore that influenced him growing up, and out of a need to unite the punk scene in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Drawing musicians from multiple scenes, the band formed and released their first 7" on give praise records soon after conception. Despite being recorded on no budget in the practice space, the record sold out quickly and 2 splits soon followed, one with "Guns and Rosa Parks" and another with "Birds of a Feather" from Amsterdam. Since then the release of the 2 full lengths, "Don't Know How to Breakdance" and "Into the Sewer" have brought about an original style, bringing in elements of crossover and fastcore, and have honed in the sarcastic, witty lyrics meant to entertain the kids while still keeping them informed on what is going on in the world. 7 U.S. tours later and shows opening up for Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front, MDC, Dillinger Four, Bouncing Souls and 2 years in a row playing No Idea Records Fest in Gainesville Florida have established In Defence as a memorable band that won't be stopped any time soon.
