Sammie Bush (born on March 1, 1987), better known by Sammie, is an American R&B singer. He is best known for his hit, "I Like It" (1999) from his debut album, From the Bottom to the Top (2000). He returned with his second studio album, Sammie in 2006. He is currently finishing his third album Coming of Age under Interscope Records, which will be released in the second quarter of 2011.

Early life and career beginnings.

Sammie was born Sammie Bush on March 1, 1987, in Boyton Beach, Florida.His mother was a former professional singer that sung in a church choir, while at the time carrying him. His first public appearances with singing was at a church at the age of four, he sung for an auditorium performing "Troubles Don't Last Always." He attended a magnet school with a special performing arts program where he formed a vocal group with two junior high kids called, "The Wonder 3". The group then audition for Showtime at the Apollo in 1998. Shortly afterwards, Dallas Austin's agent Joyce Irby contacted Bush and his mother. Austin brought Bush to Atlanta, Georgia to record several demos and was signed to Austin's Freeworld Entertainment.

Career

By 1999, Sammie was signed to Capitol Records as a solo artist and released his debut album, "From the Bottom to the Top", on March 14, 2000. Debuting at number 46 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and 21 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums" charts, it was certified gold by the RIAA for more than 500,000 copies shipped to stores. The first single, "I Like It" manage to peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 8 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song" charts, simultaneously became gold-certified by the RIAA. The second single, "Crazy Things I Do" was released in early 2000 and peaked at number 39 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" chart.

In 2001, Sammie contributed chorus vocals for "Hardball", a collaboration with rappers Lil' Bow Wow, Lil' Wayne and Lil' Zane for the Hardball soundtrack. The song only reached number 77 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Songs" charts.

Sammie (2005-2007)

After taking a hiatus from the music industry to focus on school, the singer graduated from West Orange High School in Winter Garden, Florida at age seventeen in 2005. He signed to Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records, were he re-entered the studio with top producers- Dallas Austin, Jazze Pha, and Bryan-Michael Cox for his second studio album, Sammie (2006). The album debuted at number 42 on the Billboard "Hot 100" and number 8 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song" charts. The first single "You Should Be My Girl", featured YoungBloodz member Sean Paul, peaked at number 26 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song charts. The second single "Come with Me" shared the same success peaking at number 23 on the "Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song" charts. The third single "Feel It" was not officially released and didn't chart.

Coming of Age (2008-present)

Due to the commercial failure of his second album, Sammie decided to leave from Rowdy Records. He released a promo single for his new album 2 Way Street, and his first mixtape, Swag & B: Volume 1, on July 31, 2009. He released two videos from the mixtape, "Sky's the Limit" and "Mafia Music". In 2010, he signed with Interscope Records along with Star Camp/Street Love Records. He is currently working on his third studio album, Coming of Age, to be released in the fall of 2010. He also released a EP entitled "It's Time" with downloadable single "Put It on My Tab" with R&B singer Trey Songz. Sammie also participated on the remix of Tynisha Keli's song I Wish You Loved Me.
