Something that they deserve more Give a little like it's become a chore Don't demand things and walk yourself out the doorI fell flat on my face too many times Left with nothing but some cheap perfume Now you cry, now you need me Now that perfume's not cheap but I told youIf you wanted to be my only one If you wanted to see this happen Maybe you, you should've tried harderIf you thought I would leap into your arms Every time I would see your face Then maybe you, you should've tried harderGo on, prove it, I'd love to see you try Convince me that you gave me the world I tried and tried but you never opened your eyesYou stand tall like you've won some kind of award But really I've never seen someone so short of a dollar If you gave me some more but I told youIf you wanted to be my only one If you wanted to see this happen Maybe you, you should've tried harderIf you thought I would leap into your arms Every time I would see your face Then maybe you, you should've tried harderSomething that they deserve more Give a little bitIf you wanted to be my only one If you wanted to see this happen Maybe you, you should've tried harderIf you thought I would leap into your arms Every time I would see your face Then maybe you, you should've tried harder
Hold on Tight is the debut album of American pop punk band Hey Monday. All the songs featured on the album were co-written and produced by: S*A*M & Sluggo, who have worked with many other artists in the past, most notably Gym Class Heroes and The Academy Is….
Hey Monday's lead singer, Cassadee Pope, explained when the band were writing the songs for the record, they wanted to create something that people could really enjoy and dance to, while still putting their hearts into the songs. Pope states "I feel that in the lyrics of the songs I’ve written for this album, I really was able to do this & the songs really show the diversity I feel I possess."
Hold on Tight made headway in the Top Heatseekers chart peaking at #11. Critical response to the album was overall positive. Andrew Leahey of Allmusic guide gave the album a favorable review, stating,"There's certainly some filler here, particularly toward the album's conclusion, but Hold on Tight is still stacked with enough T.G.I.F. nuggets to make it an endearing, engaging debut."
It is the only album to feature the original drummer, Elliot James.
